Day-trip around Avarua, the Cook Islands

Posted 1 year ago by avatar freez in response to avatar forestgump's question: I am in the island of Rarotonga. What could I visit around the town of Avarua? (give a different answer) .

West of the Rarotonga airport there is Parliament of the Cook Islands. It's interesting to observe all the proceedings here from the public gallery. Just make sure you are dressed properly(if you're wearing shorts or jeans you won't be let in). The Black Rock, 6 kilometres away from the golf club, west of the airport, is an outstanding monument standing in a coral lagoon. Very important symbolistic of this rock for the natives.
